A new spur road was also needed to facilitate the exchange of traffic in and out of Heathrow Airport’s Terminal 5. In the spring of 2005, the Norwegian Public Roads Administration began working on plans to replace a 6.4km long section of the E18 motorway between Bommestad and Sky in Norway. The motorway was constructed in 1970 and was no longer able to meet the requirements of the ever increasing road traffic. The plans involved constructing a four-lane motorway along the E18 past Larvik.
