In a modal testing of a wind turbine blade for the Danish based LM Glasfiber, Ramboll used Sting's catchy song 'Bring on the night' as the acoustic excitation force. During the test, a fully equipped concert system with amplifier, mixer, CD and loud speakers generated the acoustic sound waves, exciting the wind blade.
Some of the many challenges facing the offshore oil and gas industry are thermal buckling of pipelines and large amounts of free spans caused by a highly undulated seabed. To counter these problems, Ramboll has developed a comprehensive design analysis package, GOLIAT (General Offshore Linepipe Analysis Tool) for the oil and gas industry. The end result for the customer is a cost optimised design with a documented safety level.
The Culzean field was discovered in 2008 and is one of the largest fields in the British North Sea. Ramboll is providing detailed design of three jacket structures for the field, which has the potential to meet around 5 per cent of the UK’s gas demand in 2020/21.

Ramboll has assisted DONG Energy with a development project for modification of the Siri field in the North Sea, where we designed two lightweight and robust minimum-facility platforms, Nini and Cecilie.The two unmanned wellhead platforms operate as satellites tied back to the mother platform, Siri, via three inter-field pipelines. The water depth is approximately 60 metres.

This project has saved the Kurdistan Regional Government the need to use diesel for power generation with significant cost savings.
The Snorre field in the Norwegian North Sea is to be developed further through the addition of a wellhead platform, and Ramboll was appointed to provide conceptual recommendations for the facility.

In 2010 Qatar Petroleum initiated a major life time extension programme in the Dukhan field 95 km west of the capital Doha in Qatar. Ramboll was awarded the Front End Engineering Design (FEED) study for the cathodic protection and off plot power supply for more than 600 oil, gas, and water wells.
The Maersk owned Gryphon Alpha FPSO processes oil and gas for the Gryphon, South Gryphon, Tullich and Maclure fields in the British North Sea. The oil is exported by tanker. Gas is exported via a pipeline to Beryl Alpha, where it is transported to shore via the SAGE system. For this project Ramboll performed detailed design including procurement and fabrication of 3 new air compressor skids.
Horns Rev 2 is an offshore wind farm located on Horns Rev (Horns Reef) in the eastern North Sea, about 30 km off the Danish coast.
Statoil will soon be supplying their customers with oil and gas from the Tyrihans field on the Norwegian continental shelf. In 2006 Ramboll Oil & Gas commenced a detailed design project for the new pipelines and subsea structures on Tyrihans.
Ramboll provided engineering services for a fast track offshore project in the Gulf of Mexico.
Ramboll was given the task of remodelling and enlarging an existing old flare system at the Dukhan oil field on the west coast of Qatar. In addition, we were to find a method for reclaiming some of the gas that would otherwise be burnt in the tower. At last, we were to implement improved combustion technology to obtain what is known as a “smokeless flare”- which means a flame without smoke.
BHP Billiton were extending their activities in the Gulf of Mexico, West Cameron area, a with an unmanned wellhead platform. Ramboll was awarded the design of this minimum-facility platform.

Maersk Oil Qatar operates the Al Shaheen field located 180 kilometres off the North East coast of Qatar in the Arabian Gulf. First oil was produced in 1994, and since then the field has undergone tremendous development with modification works and new designs still taking place on a continuous basis.
Ramboll provided complete engineering services for topside and pipeline structures in the Gulf of Mexico.
80 kilometres off the coast of Qatar, Halul Island is the base for 11 large crude oil storage tanks and pumping facilities, as well as power generation and water desalination plants. Ramboll was chosen to be part of plans to expand this complex, by carrying out a detailed design of the crude oil import and export terminal.

The national gas markets in Europe are changing rapidly. Continuous liberalisation, dependency on gas imports from outside the EU, and increasing consumer demand have stepped up the need for strategic as well as commercial storage facilities. Ramboll has been deeply involved in these developments since the 1990s and in 2008 we assisted Etzel-Kavernenbetriebsgesellschaft mbH & CO. KG with the development of the Etzel salt cavern storage facility near Wilhelmshaven, Germany.
In the summer of 2011 Ramboll won the detailed design of the offshore substation for DONG Energy's Westermost Rough Offshore Wind Farm in the UK. The wind farm is estimated to make a significant contribution to the UK government goal of installing 33GW of wind production by 2020. The contract with DONG Energy included the conceptual and detailed design of the entire substation, covering both jacket and complete topside design.
As part of the development of the Valhall field, BP commissioned Ramboll and alliance partners Heerema Tønsberg and IV Oil & Gas to engineer, construct and install two unmanned wellhead platforms at Valhall Flank.
Ramboll Oil & Gas has provided a number of services for the Nybro gas treatment plant in Denmark, where natural gas from the South Arne and Tyra fields is purified and dried, and sulphur is removed, when necessary.

Al Shaheen is a production oil and gas field off the North East coast of Qatar in the Arabian Gulf. The oil field lies over the North Gas Field; the largest gas field in the world. Al Shaheen has been developed by Maersk Oil in what constitutes one of the largest and most complex offshore oil and gas projects undertaken in the world today.
In 2010 DONG Energy made an interesting oil find in the Danish North Sea, in the Solsort Prospect. An extensive data collection programme was carried out, and subsequently Ramboll assisted on a number of studies to assess the feasibility in developing the asset.
Ramboll will contribute to the development of the Kuvykin field in the Russian sector of the Caspian Sea with pre-FEED studies for a drilling complex and topside living quarters designed for operation in arctic conditions.
FPSO Teekay Petrojarl I was operating on the Glitne Field for Statoil, and was planned to operate for another five years there. In turn, the owner of the FPSO, Teekay Petrojarl Production, was evaluating to extend the lifetime of the FPSO with 15 years.
The Alba Field is one of the largest producers in the Gulf of Guinea. As engineering consultant, Ramboll paid a significant contribution to the development of the oil and gas field from 1997-2003.

The Anholt Offshore Wind Farm, which was completed in 2013, is the world's third largest offshore wind farm. The 400 MW wind farm, placed in the Kattegat strait between Jutland and the island of Anholt, produces energy equivalent to the annual energy consumption of 400,000 households, or 4% of Denmark's total power consumption.
