Ramboll is acting as a construction consultant for a new campus for Metropolia University of Applied Sciences in Myllypuro, Helsinki.
On the east side of Gibraltar, above the small village of Catalan Bay, is an area of some 130,000 sq m which has been in use since the early 1900s as a rainwater catchment for the territory's water supply. Our geotechnical engineers and environmental consultants worked on the decommissioning of the catchment and the reinstatement of the sloping site. We also undertook project management. The site rises 250m at a uniform angle of 34 degrees across its width. It is part of a dune structure, believed to have been formed in the period when the Mediterranean was a dry basin. For use as a catchment, it had been covered with corrugated steel sheeting, and stabilisation and environmental improvements were required to make it safe and to meet EU Protected Habitat requirements. < ...
The New Champlain Bridge corridor is one of the largest infrastructure projects in North America and is of crucial importance for the regional economy and for Canada as a whole. It will provide the main gateway to Montreal with a signature bridge on the Saint Lawrence River. The New Champlain Bridge (NBSL) will become a new iconic symbol for the metropolis and will change the urban look of Montreal.
The client was the Slovakian National Railways (ZSR). Ramboll provided contract and construction management as well as planning services to ZSR. We also provided progress reports to the EU. This was a joint venture with iC Consulenten (Austria) as lead, and Dopravoprojekt (Slovakia) as sub-consultant.

Rail Denmark has decided to modernise the centralised traffic control system in Aalborg. The current system is ready for replacement. The Aalborg-Frederikshavn section includes a total of 8 substations, with various interlocking systems. The new system will be based on modern, screen based technology. It will provide a higher level of automatic train management functions than ever before. It will therefore enable more efficient operations, and will reduce operational costs.
Ramboll has been instrumental in the upgrading and expansion of Dubrovnik Airport’s infrastructure. The project will ensure the airport is fit for the future and capable of handling increasing passenger numbers.

Garden Reach Shipbuilders & Engineers Ltd (GRSE) is a Government of India undertaking, building vessels of many types — mostly for the government itself. Its shipyards are located on the River Hooghly in Kolkata. Together with our associated sub-consultants Appledore International, TK Roy & Associates and Intercon Maritime Consultants, we provided design and masterplanning services for the modernisation of the Garden Reach Shipyard.The main yard’s existing facilities included a dry dock, building berth, slipway, workshops and hull fabrication shops. Baltimore Lifeboat Station, on the south west tip of Ireland, has been extended and remodelled to accommodate the needs of crews for the inshore and all-weather lifeboats. Facilities have been improved further by creating an adjacent pontoon berth. Our team provided geotechnical, marine, structural and building services engineering and project management.The station building (c.1913) is an early example of reinforced concrete construction and has been refurbished and enlarged by the addition of a new steel frame extension, roofed with slate to match the existing. The station’s slipway has been modified so that RNLI Baltimore’s Atlantic 75B class inshore lifeboat Bessie can be launched directly from the boathouse. Grade II* listed Tynemouth Railway Station has undergone extensive refurbishment to preserve its elegant canopy roof and enable its redevelopment as a community venue.
The overall goal of the project was planning and construction of two new IWT cargo terminals. Ramboll in association with partners in Bangladesh, have performed a feasibility study and detailed design of 2 new IWT cargo terminals in Pangaon and Ashuganj. In both locations new berthing facilities and improved cargo handling facilities will be implemented.
Ramboll is engaged as the main consultant on the stretch of the new E18 motorway between Grimstad and Kristiansand. The new motorway will significantly improve the Norwegian infrastructure and will improve living conditions for local communities living along the existing road.
The Øresund Link connects the Danish capital Copenhagen with the city of Malmö in southern Sweden by a four lane motorway and a two track electrified railway for high speed (200 km/h) passenger services as well as freight trains.
