The Docklands Light Railway (DLR) in London's East End underwent major works to upgrade and expand the network, enabling it to carry three-car (six coach) trains. Working in conjunction with Arup, we provided rail engineering services for the detailed design of stations and supporting structures. Taylor Woodrow was awarded the design & build contract for this part of the project, officially known as Provision of Three Car Enhancement Works.At project tender stage, we provided full design support including the development of a number of innovative procedures for minimising the strengthening of structures. A new three-car DLR station built on-line around the existing Stratford line between All Saints and Devon's Road station, Langdon Park is central to regeneration plans for the area and was substantially funded by regional development monies.
