Penang South Islands masterplan

The new Penang South Islands (PSI) will be located at the south-end of Penang island. It consists of three islands, measuring a total of 4,500 acres in total land size with mixed-use districts for 15,000 to 18,000 residents. In addition, residents will be provided with approximately 4.6km of public beaches, 600 acres of parks and a 25km waterfront.

Fujairah 2040 Master Plan - Port Review

Ramboll is preparing a Master Plan for the Emirate of Fujairah (UAE). The Port of Fujairah includes one of the world’s largest oil terminals, and is the second largest bunkering port in the world. The port also contains a dry bulk terminal for export of aggregates and armour rock from the many quarries in the Emirate, a Marine services terminal, a container terminal and general cargo terminal.

New traffic plan for urban development in Jyllinge, Denmark

Ramboll has drawn up the traffic plan for the development of central Jyllinge and its surrounding residential areas. The plan will ensure that development opportunities are maintained and supported by favourable traffic connections and accessibility in the area.

Improved mobility for schools in the Municipality of Gentofte

Ramboll has developed a proposal for a comprehensive network of cycling routes in the Municipality of Gentofte. The aim is to improve mobility and accessibility for all schools in the municipality.

Gellerupparken: From deprived area to attractive urban district

A complex transformation project is underway in the neighbourhoods of Gellerupparken and Toveshøj, on the outskirts of Aarhus in Denmark, where a run down area is being developed into an attractive urban district.

Guidance on traffic safety for urban planners

Ramboll has collaborated with the Danish Road Directorate on a guide on traffic safety intended for urban planners in municipalities and private companies.

Dubrovnik Airport

Ramboll has been instrumental in the upgrading and expansion of Dubrovnik Airport’s infrastructure. The project will ensure the airport is fit for the future and capable of handling increasing passenger numbers.

Strømsø as a future-oriented city district

Ramboll engineers and DRMA Architects submitted the proposal ‘Norway in the future’ which was awarded second place in the idea competition for the future development of the Strømsø district. The aim was to get creative input for how the area may be turned into a future-oriented and human friendly city environment with reduced demands for transport and minimal emissions of climate gasses.

Fujairah 2040 Framework Plan

Under the leadership of the Ruler of Fujairah H.H. Sheikh Hamad Bin Mohammed Al Sharqi and Crown Prince H.H. Sheikh Mohammed Bin Hamad Al Sharqi, Fujairah Municipality initiated the development of a strategic Framework Plan for the Emirate of Fujairah, one of seven Emirates making up the United Arab Emirates (UAE). Ramboll was commissioned by Fujairah Municipality to develop Fujairah’s Framework Plan through a multi-disciplinary approach.

Nordhavn Metro Extension

Ramboll, in a joint venture with Arup and with architectural firm COBE as sub-consultant, is the planning advisor for the Nordhavnen Metro extension in central Copenhagen.

Tianjin Cultural Park

Located just half an hour south-east of Beijing by high-speed train, Tianjin is also close to the sea. The high-water table needs to be maintained to prevent seawater encroaching inland and the dry, harsh climate does not preclude flooding.

Bicycle paths in Copenhagen

The project is part of the Copenhagen Bicycle Policy, which aims at improving conditions for cyclists in city centre. Ramboll is involved in the planning and establishment of new bicycle paths in and around the historical urban core. The project is executed with a special focus on the integration of bicycle traffic with the historical city centre and the urban environment.

St David's 2

The largest city-centre regeneration to ever take place in Wales, St David's 2 Cardiff is a mixed-use development that includes over 100 new retail outlets, 300 luxury apartments and parking for 3,000 cars, spread across a site footprint that is roughly the size of eight football pitches.Ramboll UK took on this job as a design and build contract after it had already reached Stage D. Kvanefjeld Port Feasibility Study

Greenland Minerals and Energy Ltd (GMEL) intend to establish a new port as part of an integrated Concentrator and Refinery facility in Kvanefjeld, Greenland, for the Kvanefjeld Rare Earth and Uranium Project. Ramboll has covered the port and logistics part of the total project and prepared a Port Feasibility Study, which demonstrates the technical feasibility of the future Kvanefjeld Port.

Feasibility study for a new major seaport in Sri Lanka

Sri Lanka Ports Authorities (SLPA) is planning to develop a new major greenfield seaport in Hambantota, situated on the south coast of Sri Lanka. Hambantota Port is expected to relieve Colombo Port and is intended to support the growing demand for servicing large vessels.

Planning and Implementing Sustainable Transport in Addis Ababa

Gateway Asia 2030: Feasibility study for new major airport and seaport project, Manila

Nandian Park City

Nandian Park City is located in Tianjin, one of the largest cities in China. The masterplan for this 10 km2 new city district convinced the jury to choose this plan thanks to the outstanding high-density corniche which is based on a functional water system for the entire district.

International Quarter London - Plot S6

Situated in the Olympic Park site, as part of the London 2012 games legacy, Transport for London’s (TfL) new headquarter at International Quarter London provides 265,000 sq ft modern, dynamic facilities for around 3,000 TfL staff.

Akbulak Club Resort

Akbulak Club Resort is a luxury leisure complex resort located in the south east of Kazakhstan, approximately 50km east of the former capital Almaty. The proposed development is laid over 980 hectares on a greenfield site, located at the foothills of the Tian Shan mountain range, which separates Kazakhstan and China. Assessments, provided by Ramboll, included information that could be used to forecast costs, enabling our client to consider possible phasing options.

Greenwich Millennium Village phases 3, 4 and 5

We produced a tender devised to promote a competitive overall costing by designing for three alternate methods of construction. This placed the contractor in a strong position to secure the most economic solution.

Preparing the Sustainable Urban Mobility Plan for Tbilisi

Ferrari World

Award winning development covering  25 sq km  contains a Formula 1 track, hotels and a retail centre.  Ramboll developed a flexible approach to engineering so we could meet the programme challenges. Our early involvement with the theme park focused on the schematic design of its 90,000 sqm roof.

Maljevik Bay

We are working closely with the architect on a greenfield development on Montenegro’s Adriatic coast, south west of Sutomore, creating a 3D digital model to determine the optimum roof forms. Ramboll is providing masterplanning, structural, building services, façade, acoustic, geotechnical and marine engineering services for the project, which includes detached housing, apartments, a spa with hotel, restaurants, retail areas and associated infrastructure.The site is fringed with heavily wooded slopes to the west and south, with a grassy plateau in the central area. Tithebarn city centre regeneration

We are working on various aspects of the new masterplan for the city centre of Preston, Lancashire. The area concerned is known as Heart of the Tithebarn Regeneration Area (HTRA) and covers approximately 14.8 hectares. The masterplan provides for 32 new-build blocks, the refurbishment of existing structures, relocation of the bus station and a considerable area of new retail space, leisure facilities, public spaces and car parking.Among the key environmental aspects considered during the evolution of the scheme have been land quality, archaeology, ecology (there are bats on the site), noise impacts, air quality, microclimate, drainage, townscape, visual context and waste management. Impact on the local economy and social structure have also been studied.Our consultants undertook preliminary microclimate analysis of daylight, sunlight and wind flow on the development site and the surrounding area. The objective of the wind flow analysis was to ensure that the proposals offered a year-round comfortable external environment.Our infrastructure engineers have completed an extensive 3D earthworks model of the proposed new bus station area that optimises the cut and fill volumes. A comprehensive drainage strategy has been developed that minimises the need for sewer diversion. The surface water strategy endorses the use of Sustainable Drainages Systems (SUDS) and includes rainwater harvesting, porous paving and the extensive use of green/brown roofs.

Jätkäsaari infrastructure and environmental planning

Having served as Helsinki's cargo port for almost 100 years, Jätkäsaari will be transformed into an attractive urban residential area by 2025. The Jätkäsaari construction project consists of various commissions, which Ramboll is planning in connection with numerous client and cooperative partners.

Development of a strategic master plan for the Emirate of Fujairah

This master plan will provide the vision and framework for economic, social and government based projects over the next 30 years. The creation of the Fujairah Strategic Masterplan Project is an initiative of the Government of Fujairah and will set a framework for the growth and development of the Emirate of Fujairah until 2040.

Gullbergsvass and Gothenburg’s new RiverCity

Gullbergsvass is one of seven neighbourhoods in central Gothenburg’s port area to be transformed into the attractive new ‘RiverCity’. Ramboll performed a feasibility study for the 90 hectare district as a basis for stakeholder dialogue on the development. Tunnel under Marselis Boulevard

The project consists of a 1.8 kilometre cut and cover tunnel, consisting of mechanical and electrical  installations, several road and railway bridges (including railway bridges at Langenæs, Åhavevej and Viby Ringgade), and all temporary structures.
