Ramboll headquarters facade design

The Ramboll Group's new headquarters building in Copenhagen reflects the company's commitment to innovative sustainable design. Its bespoke single- and double-skinned glazing system was designed by Ramboll's façade engineering team.

The five-story fully-glazed steel frame building is L-shape in plan. The frame has extra reinforcement at the top of the structure to support the weight of the glass. The north elevation faces a motorway and is linked to the west elevation by a curved glazed atrium. The west side of the building is effected by solar gain.

The double-skinned glazing provides high acoustic and thermal insulation for the north and west elevations. It's composed of 1.5m wide by storey-height panels in low-iron glass. Each external panel is fixed by all four corners to enable load transfer to the skin beneath. The south and east elevations have the single-skin glazing, with performated spandrel panels providing visual depth.

To meet energy targets, low emissivity coating has been used for both the fully-glazed curved roof and the façades. The structure has been designed for a 30 minute fire resistance rating.
