The Quiriquire field, located in Monagas State, Venezuela, is the largest oil field in eastern Venezuela and also by worldwide standards it is a giant field. Maxus/YPF awarded Ramboll the detailed engineering for an onshore oil and gas production facility at Quiriquire.
Steady engineering partner for multi-phase project
Maxus Energy Corporation - a subsidiary of Argentine energy company , YPF - is an oil and gas exploration and production company based in Texas. Ramboll acted as their steady engineering provider for this onshore project in three phases comprising:
- Onshore oil & gas production facilities and associated pipelines
- Onshore oil & gas facilities - compression expansion
- Onshore oil & gas facilities - process expansion
Onshore oil & gas production facilities and associated pipelines
Phase one entailed work on the oil and gas production facilities and associated pipelines. Ramboll (then Excel Engineering) provided engineering services within process, mechanical, electrical, instrumentation, civil, structural, and pipeline. The facility was designed for production rates of 72 MMSCFD, 26,000 BPD condensate and 50,000 BPD water.
Phase two entailed compression expansion for the oil and gas facilities. Ramboll provided process, mechanical, electrical, instrumentation, civil, and structural engineering. High pressure gas injection equipment and flash gas compression equipment were added. Foundations were designed for seismic zone 4 conditions. The facility was designed for the following production rates (process) of 7.5 MMSCFD gas, 8,000 BPD condensate, 500 BPD water and (compression) 60 MMSCFD high pressure gas compression (5000 psig) and 18 MMSCFD flash gas compression.
Phase three concerned process expansion for the oil and gas facilities and was done on a fast track, seven-month schedule. Engineering services provided by Ramboll included, process, mechanical, electrical, instrumentation, civil, and structural design. Also included was the design of foundations for Seismic Zone 4 conditions. The facility was designed for production rates of 220 MMSCFD gas, 28,000 BPD condensate and water, and 275 MMSCFD gas dehydration.
