We carried out a significant engineering project for the Polvo Field Development off the coast of Brazil.
Polvo is located on block BM-C-8 in the Campos Basin offshore Rio de Janeiro in app. 300 feet (92m) of water. Polvo was discovered in 2004 and after a fast-track field development project, production commenced in July 2007.
Production facilities include a fixed production and drilling platform connected via two pipelines and submarine cable to a floating production, storage and offloading vessel (FPSO). The wells are producing using electric submersible pumps (ESP).
Devon Energy Corporation was the license holder for Polvo, and they awarded Excel Engineering (now Ramboll) the engineering and design services for the production / drilling platform standing in 330 ft. (100 m) of water.
Specifically, Ramboll provided engineering and design services for the jacket, deck, production facilities, drill rig skid base and drilling rig structural modifications. The scope also comprised sizing the two pipelines to carry production to the FPSO and injection water from the FPSO to the platform.
In addition, Ramboll provided assistance with development of the performance specification for the FPSO which supported the production separation, water treating, power generation and production storage for the field.
