Ramboll has acted as engineering consultant to Maersk Oil on their Danish offshore oil field, Halfdan, since 1999. Ramboll’s involvement started with early field development work and has continued through the years with ongoing brownfield work.
The Halfdan field development project
When starting the development of the Halfdan field in the Danish North Sea, Maersk Oil applied their knowledge and experience from their work on the Dan field to fast-track the project in order to start production earlier. Working alongside Maersk Oil, Ramboll executed a number of early phase activities to provide a decision-making basis, incl. initial feasibility and conceptual studies in early stages, and detailed designs in later.
During the field development of Halfdan, Maersk Oil has awarded Ramboll the detailed design for six of the eight jackets in the Halfdan field.
Brownfield projects on Halfdan since 2000
Since the establishment of the first platforms, Ramboll has assisted on many detailed design and modification projects both to topsides and substructures in the field.
Ramboll has carried out projects ranging from initial feasibility- and conceptual studies, to FEEDs, detailed design and installation/commissioning, e.g.:
Securing structural integrity for the jackets and pipelines:
- Sea fastening fatigue
- Structural reanalysis report
- Tie-in studies and detailed designs
- Riser concept studies
- Tie-in spools
- Bridge design
- Pipeline upgrade/reanalysis
Securing safe and efficient operation – topsides:
- Conversion of separator
- Separator module – detailed design
- Topsides modules for process
- Gas explosion simulation
- Shut down analyses and other EIT services
