The Maersk owned Gryphon Alpha FPSO processes oil and gas for the Gryphon, South Gryphon, Tullich and Maclure fields in the British North Sea. The oil is exported by tanker. Gas is exported via a pipeline to Beryl Alpha, where it is transported to shore via the SAGE system. For this project Ramboll performed detailed design including procurement and fabrication of 3 new air compressor skids.
The objective of the Gryphon Air Compression project is to replace the existing compressor / dryer packages in the aft section and provide an additional package in the forward engine room. Besides increased capacity, the intended segregation between forward and aft sections will allow greater system flexibility as the distribution header is then supplied from both ends of the vessel.
Ramboll rendered the following services:
- Detail engineering; carrying out and completing process/piping/E&I/structural/HSE design in accordance with Maersk design procedures and specifications.
- ICU verification
- Procurement and onshore fabrication including procurement of all required equipment and affiliated items required for installation (piping items, supports, instrumentation etc).
- Follow-up of procured equipment, pre-fabrication of piping, bulk and installation equipment.
- Close-out including completion of as-built documentation based on onshore red mark-ups.
Onshore pre-fabrication of piping and supports was based on fabrication in Esbjerg and transport to Maersk’s warehouse in Esbjerg, Denmark.
