Ramboll prepares Environmental Impact Assessments (EIAs) of three near-shore wind farms in Danish waters for the Danish energy grid owner, Energinet.dk.

The project involves preparing Environmental Impact Assessments for both the offshore wind farms as well as the onshore connection to the national grid.

Six near-shore wind farm areas have been identified, namely Smålandsfarvandet, Sæby, Sejerø Bugt, Bornholm, Vesterhav Syd, and Vesterhav Nord. Ramboll has been awarded the combined EIA contract for the three areas mentioned first above.

The Danish government's energy policy includes ambitious goals to reduce dependency on finite energy sources and increase energy production by renewables (wind, hydro, solar etc.) and part of this package includes the further development of offshore wind energy production. The proposed near-shore wind farms play a significant role in the government's plans for reducing CO2 emissions in Denmark.

The total capacity of the six new wind farms will be 450 MW, equivalent to the energy consumption of approximately 72,000 households.

The project amounts to 20,000 man-hours and involves several departments across Ramboll Oil & Gas and Ramboll Denmark. The project began in September 2013 and is expected to be complete during 2015.

Ramboll is a leading EIA consultant in Denmark in relation to offshore wind farms and was awarded this contract due to significant experience and a skilled team.
