3D scanning of four platforms increased safety and allowed instant access to field information.
Ramboll performed a complete 3D scan and modeling of the Dan Bravo field in the Danish sector of the North Sea. The purpose of the project was to deliver a model and point clouds, which can be used to clash check the new design. This makes it possible for Maersk to produce the most optimal design that allows new equipment and pipes to be installed with a minimal risk of clash.
Every employee at Maersk now has instant access to a virtual 3D environment of the Dan Bravo field from the project portal and is able to gather information or perform measurements at their desk. This greatly reduces costs and limits the number of required offshore trips, and thereby increases the general safety of the employees. Additionally, the project portal makes it possible to use the same updated drawings and communicate globally.
