Built in 1985, Dubai’s first shopping mall remains a thriving retail hub thanks to a recent re-development and expansion. Consisting of over 700 retail units over two floors, the main mall is complemented by a 220 key serviced apartment tower, a hotel plus a seven storey office tower.
Ramboll was instructed to carry out building services engineering for Phase 2 of the Al Ghurair City mall re-development. Ramboll’s building service engineers had to find solutions that matched both the large scale of the development, plus the challenges arising from ensuring the services for Phase 2 linked seamlessly with those already installed in Phase 1.
Due to its large size, our engineers designed the system to use a high voltage chiller rather than a regular low voltage chiller, ensuring it had sufficient capacity to cool the entire development.
