Celebrating its 5th year, the European Women In Construction & Engineering Awards is the most prestigious event celebrating the achievements of women in these sectors.
Ramboll is delighted for Alex Lawrence who was awarded the Best Female Mentor award at the ceremony, held at London’s Hilton Park Lane hotel on Tuesday 21 May 2019. The award recognises Alex’s efforts to positively change the industry, mentoring individuals both within and outside Ramboll and actively encouraging and supporting those that are preparing for their professional exams with the Institution of Structural Engineers.
Alex’s triumph is Ramboll’s second consecutive win for this WICE category, with Sarah Penry receiving the same recognition last year. The successive wins emphasise Ramboll’s commitment to promoting a diverse and inclusive workplace that provides equal opportunity for all. The engagement and satisfaction of our people has always been a top priority and we want all employees to flourish whilst working for Ramboll.
Alex comments; "I am delighted to win this award. It recognises the importance of mentoring in supporting individuals in our industry. The judging process was interesting with a video application and ‘live action’ mentoring! The awards have been a great opportunity to reflect back on my career so far and talk to my mentees about their successes and how mentoring has helped them. I look forward to supporting the WICE awards next year."
Ramboll was proud to receive a total of six WICE nominations and offer our congratulations to Alex and the other finalists; Dimitra Voukia for Best Young Engineer, Emily Agus for Best Woman in Environment & Sustainability, Katherine Theobald for Best Young Engineer, Ollie Wildman for Best Male Mentor and Sammie Pope for Best Woman Electrical & Mechanical Engineer.
Mathew Riley, UK Managing Director, comments; "This award recognises Alex’s commitment to creating a culture and environment that inspires our people to deliver to their full potential. As Talent and Inclusion director, she leads our diversity and inclusion strategy of which mentoring is a key aspect. Alex is a great role model for our industry and this award is well-deserved."
The European Women In Construction & Engineering Awards (WICE) awards highlights the achievements of women working in construction and engineering and aims to make these industries more enticing to women.
