Ramboll is celebrating the shortlistings of Brogan MacDonald, Candice De Bartolo and Katherine Theobald for Best Young Woman Engineer, Catherine Leaf for Best Woman in Environment & Sustainability, Emily Scoones for Best Woman in Digital Innovation, Georgia Kokkinou for Best Woman Electrical & Mechanical Engineer, Isabel McTiffin for Best Woman Structural Engineer, Laura Maguire for Best Woman in Health & Safety and Lucy Chadwick for Best Woman Civil Engineer.

In the running for the Lifetime Achievement in Engineering Award is Lucy Padfield for her commitment to the decarbonisation of heat. She is the first elected woman to Chair the ADE Board in its 50-year history, is a member of the Heat Network Industry Council, founder of the Women in District Heating network and co-chairs Waltham Forest Council’s Climate Emergency Commission.

These finalists continue Ramboll’s success at the WICE awards. In 2019, Alex Lawrence won the Best Female Mentor award. And in 2018, two of our four finalists were crowned winners, with Ramboll's Sarah Penry awarded Best Woman Mentor and Jackie Heath, Best Woman Structural Engineer.

This year’s finalists work across our buildings, transport, energy and environment & health markets from graduates to directors, which is a great representation of the talent across our company.

“We’re very proud to see so many of our talented people shortlisted for the WICE awards. The shortlist reflects the variety and depth of expertise our people bring to Ramboll, their dedication and hard work is truly inspiring for us all”. Alex Lawrence, Talent Inclusion Director

Breaking down barriers and building new heights

The WICE Awards are designed to find the most exemplary women within construction and engineering across Europe. The awards create role models for women considering a career in these sectors, while encouraging companies to employ and train more women in these industries.

With only 9% of UK engineering professionals made up of women, compared to 18% in Spain, 26% in Sweden and 20%in Italy, it is clear there is still a long way to go, which is why initiatives like the WICE awards are so important.

Ramboll’s mission: where people flourish

Our mission is to create sustainable societies where people and nature flourish. We understand the value of individual difference and the importance of providing an inclusive, safe and supportive work environment for all our team. To achieve this, we are focused on three core areas:

  1. A collaborative culture nurturing inclusivity: An open and inclusive culture with behaviours that build trust and respect emanating from our leadership is critical in enabling our people to thrive and fulfil their potential.
  2. Diverse talent driving innovation: Attract, retain and develop diverse talent to create well-managed inclusive teams that improve engagement and drive more innovative solutions for our clients.
  3. Inclusive solutions serving society: A diverse and inclusive organisation with highly engaged talent will collaborate to produce inclusive solutions that maximise social value and help create sustainable societies.

Supporting our people in being recognised by awards like WICE, is an important aspect of creating a supportive environment where people can flourish. Helping them reach their potential, means we can deliver the best outcomes for our clients. Good luck to all the finalists.
