In 2009 residents and businesses came together to produce the city's first ever climate change strategy and in January 2016, just one month after the Paris Agreement, Manchester committed to become a zero-carbon city by 2050.
However, as Manchester has committed to play its full part in limiting the impacts of climate change, the city has now published a draft Zero Carbon Framework for 2020-2038, setting out to become a zero-carbon city by 2038. Meeting these targets will make Manchester one of the world’s leading cities for action on climate change and so the Manchester Climate Change Board wants all organisations in the city to help realise this vision.
“Ramboll is very happy to play its part in supporting a zero-carbon future for Manchester. We have enjoyed being a part of this thriving city for 20 years and last year our 75-strong team moved to new larger offices near Deansgate. As a company committed to creating sustainable societies where people and nature flourish, we are currently enjoying supporting Plastic Free July and working with Bruntwood to design their first zero-carbon building.” Greig Kirker, Director - Manchester, Ramboll.
