The RRS Sir David Attenborough will transform the way science is carried out in the polar regions, providing polar researchers and collaborators with a state-of-the-art multi-disciplinary research platform, at a time when the planet is most in need. Ramboll has been working with BAS since 2016 on a host of projects in the Polar Regions to modernise UK Antarctic research facilities in preparation for the ship and to keep their research stations meeting the needs of BAS personnel.
Consequently, the official naming of the research ship is something with which we are proud to be associated. The Antarctic Infrastructure Modernisation team that includes, Ramboll as Technical Advisors, BAM as contractors and partners have an exhibition stand in the huge Ice Worlds marquee, where we will be sharing the incredible work and feats of engineering underway to prepare for the new polar research vessel and the modernisation of UK Antarctic research stations to facilitate world-leading research for the future.
You can find out more about the event and register for tickets from the BAS website.
Appointed by NERC as Technical Advisors to BAS (British Antarctic Survey), Ramboll is providing specialist engineering and consultancy services for seven years. Delivering a host of projects within the Antarctic Infrastructure Modernisation Programme (AIMP), BAS and its Technical Advisors (including NORR Architects and Turner & Townsend) are preparing for one of the world’s most advanced Polar research ships - the RRS Sir David Attenborough, which will be ready for operation from 2019.
