Ramboll LGBT+ Allies network launch party
Ramboll's LGBT+ Allies Network was established to improve members’ visibility and wellbeing, internally and within the wider construction industry. This Pride month, we celebrate our LGBT+ Allies network and colleagues for the impact they have had on creating an open and progressive culture at Ramboll and their dedication to lobbying for the LGBT+ agenda.
The network has made substantial progress since forming in 2017. Gender neutral toilets have been introduced in the head office with plans to extend these across our UK offices (where practical), providing suitable and comfortable facilities for all.
Ramboll is now a member of Stonewall, the largest LGBT charity organisation in Europe, and recently joined the #BuildingEquality cross-industry group who work together to identify initiatives that will help bring about tangible changes for LGBT inclusion within the construction industry. Ramboll will also have a presence at the London Pride event for the first time this year, walking with the #BuildingEquality industry group in July.
Pride matters to Ramboll #BuildingEquality
In addition to these milestones, the LGBT+ Allies network hosted one of Ramboll’s monthly social events raising money for The Albert Kennedy Trust who work to prevent LGBT Youth Homelessness. A record breaking £700 was raised at the event affirming the support for LGBT+ issues amongst Ramboll’s employees.
Celebrated each year in the month of June, LGBT Pride months honors the 1969 Stonewall riots in Manhattan that were a milestone for the Gay Liberation Movement. LGBT Pride Month recognises the impact that LGBT+ individuals have had on history and offers encouragement and support to people who feel unable to be themselves and express themselves without fear.
Neil Sansbury, Finance Director and LGBT+ Allies Network sponsor comments "I support LGBT Pride month and Ramboll’s LGBT+ Allies network as everyone has the right to be their true-self and silent support is not enough to make a difference. I’m committed to creating an LGBT+ inclusive culture within Ramboll and beyond and I’m looking forward to walking proudly amongst industry peers from #BuildingEquality at Pride in London who are dedicated to achieving this."
Sarah Halpin, LGBT+ Allies Network lead, comments: "I have been absolutely blown away and humbled by the support for our network, not just from our peers but from our Leadership Team. Their endless support and encouragement is overwhelming."
Equality, diversity and inclusion (EDI) sit at the core of Ramboll’s vision and ambitions. We work closely with our EDI Steering Committee and four EDI networks; LGBT+ Allies, STEM, Wellbeing and Gender Balance, to improve the quality of life for all employees.
