The NCE100 Awards recognises the most forward-thinking, innovative firms in civil engineering today. As NCE puts it, “These are the firms that are doing the right things, in the right way, to deliver the outcomes that benefit society”. We are so proud to take 5th spot in the NCE’s Top 100 companies and be recognised as one of the leading engineering consultancies in the UK. This position is reinforced by also securing the Excellence in Transport Award, based on our work on the recently opened Mersey Gateway, as well as the shortlisting for Design Innovator and Diversity Champion.
Commenting on the transport award, the judges remarked: “An outstanding example of a long-term collaborative relationship that has delivered a significant transport project...”
The good news continued when Sarah Penry was crowned Best Woman Mentor and Jackie Heath, Best Woman Structural Engineer. We also offer our congratulations to Denise Wright, shortlisted for Best Woman Project Manager and Britta Wesseling, Best Woman in Health & Safety.
Sarah commented: “Mentoring, I believe, is about building confidence in others so they can realise their full potential. Watching my mentees develop and achieve continues to inspire me every day.”
Jackie added: “I’ve developed a passion for conserving historic structures and have helped conserve some internationally important structures. I love seeing repaired structured come back to life.”
Steve Laking, European Division President for Ramboll’s Environment & Health business remarked: “Quality role models throughout the company, such as these winners, are inspirational – not only to the younger women at the start of their careers, but to all our employees.”
Mathew Riley, Managing Director for Ramboll in the UK, commented: “What a week! I was ecstatic to see us leap from 12th to 5th spot in the NCE100, a position I feel we have earned and which reflects on a period of many successes such as a growing portfolio on HS2, securing lead positions for the Liverpool Cruise Liner Terminal and Cherchell port in Algeria, and working for Pascall & Watson on the Stansted transformation project. And congratulations to Sarah and Jackie who each exemplify all that is good about Ramboll. Both are passionate professionals delivering the best solutions for clients and sharing their knowledge to break down gender barriers and see talent develop.”
