A group of 70 Ramboll and Families Together London people decorated and waving variety of LGBTQ+ flags at London Pride 2022
Families Together London (FTL) - a London-based support group and listening ear for the parents, families, and friends of lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender (LGBT) people - invited Ramboll to join them at London Pride to commemorate 50 years of Pride marches and to celebrate our strengthening relationship with the local community group.
Ramboll employees, their partners, friends, and family joined FTL at London Pride to form a 70-person strong group that marched together in support of LGBTQ+ rights.
UK Managing Director Philippa Spence joined the parade and commented: “Participating in London Pride, with my non-binary eldest child, my Ramboll family and Families Together London, has been an incredibly rewarding experience. Since 2020, FTL has supported Ramboll’s LGBTQ+ employees and those with LGBTQ+ family members, including myself. Joining them at London Pride was a proud moment for me personally and for Ramboll.”
Alex Lawrence, Head of Talent & Inclusion at Ramboll UK said: “It felt great to be back at London Pride after a two-year hiatus due to Covid. Pride shines a spotlight on the LGBTQ+ community, the struggles they have overcome since the first London Pride 50 years ago, and the battles they are still facing. Spending the day with new and familiar Ramboll friends, and spotting Ramboll colleagues and supporters in amongst the spectator crowd, reaffirmed how vital Pride events are in bringing the community and allies together in support of LGBTQ+ inclusivity.”
Since forming in 2017, Ramboll’s LGBT+ and Allies network has driven several inclusive initiatives that have resulted in Ramboll climbing 172 spaces in the Stonewall Workplace Equality Index since our first submission in 2019. In the latest evaluation, our transitioning at work policy and guidance was highly commended, as were our collaborative webinars, including “LGBT History and Me” – a panel discussion with Building Equality members sharing the impact that LGBT+ legislation and societal prejudice have had on individuals – and “Are you ready for the conversation?” with FTL - offering advice and guidance on how to support LGBTQ+ family members and friends as they discover and reveal their true self.
Our diverse network of connections through industry and community groups, such as Building Equality and Families Together London, continue to inspire us to ensure LGBTQ+ inclusivity at Ramboll, 365 days a year.
For non-binary awareness week, starting 11 July, Ramboll’s LGBT+ and Allies network is hosting the “Exploring the non-binary” webinar and discussing what it is to be non-binary, what society associates with gender, the history of non-binary identity and personal experiences from our non-binary colleagues.
