Bridge engineering team wins ICE award for best paper

The King Prize award acknowledges the authors who have produced work judged by their peers to be of exceptional quality and benefit to the civil engineering and science community. More here.
The winning paper was published in the Proceedings of the Institution of Civil Engineers - Bridge Engineering in June 2015, and is free to view on ICE Virtual Library as part of the ICE’s commitment to furthering knowledge and best practice in civil engineering. The award ceremony took place at One Great George Street on Friday 7 October 2016.

Louis Dawson. The MediaCityUK Footbridge was officially opened to the public in May 2011. It provides a striking pedestrian gateway over the Manchester Ship Canal into the new MediaCityUK complex and enhances the pedestrian link between Salford and Trafford Quay.

Media City footbridge forms a visual landmark and sculptural gateway to the vibrant MediaCityUK site, part of the Salford Quays regeneration on the banks of the Manchester Ship Canal. Together with our partners we designed a bridge that met the dual 20m headroom requirements for ships and achieved “landmark” designation.
