Clapham Park residential planning application gets approval

Lambeth Council’s Planning Committee has granted housing association Metropolitan qualified planning approval for their proposed development of more than 2,500 new homes and a wide range of community facilities at Clapham Park in south London.

This marks success for the largest ever residential detailed planning application in the UK. Ramboll have been heavily involved throughout the development of the masterplan, providing Structural, Civil, MEP, Geotechnical, Facades and Fire engineering. 

It’s anticipated that a section 106 agreement will be resolved over the next few weeks, allowing construction to start later in the year. 

With London’s population growing at 100,000 per year, it’s vital that a vibrant mix of housing and community areas are created to meet the long-term demand. On completion, the regeneration will double the total number of homes on the estate to 4,080, with 53% of them affordable. In addition to new homes, a community hub will include a permanent new community centre, new shops and a retirement living building. Landscape improvements will provide over four hectares of high quality open public space, with the creation of a central park and first floor podium communal gardens in many buildings.

The application for planning was submitted in the summer of 2017 and approved by Lambeth Council’s Planning Committee on the 14th March 2018. Detailed design is planned to proceed later in the year.
