Laing O’Rourke Supply Chain award winners

Laing O’Rourke’s annual Supply Chain Awards that recognise outstanding, performance, safety productivity and sustainability - where Ramboll was chosen as their innovation winner.

The Digital Bridges, DfMA Programme innovation project that secured the win, is not only creating major benefits and tangible outcomes on site, it will also drive far reaching industry benefits. Read more.

 

Constructing Excellence West Midlands Award winners

 

 

The new Cyber Quarter – Midlands Centre for Cyber Security building based in Herefordshire has secured two top prizes at the Constructing Excellence West Midlands Awards 2021.

  • Building Project of the Year Award
  • Integration & Collaborative Working Award (Joint winners)

The partnership team included Ramboll, Speller Metcalfe, Hybrid Structures, Associated Architects, Cundall, Gleeds and Couch Perry Wilkes as well as the University’s Estates and Facilities Team.

The 2,000 square metre building will provide significant resources for research and development across three cyber laboratories, advanced training facilities as part of the University’s Wolverhampton Cyber Research Institute and additional business space for up to 16 cyber companies.

 

WICE award (European Women in Construction & Engineering Awards) winners

A record number of Ramboll employees (11) made the shortlist of European Women In Construction & Engineering (WICE) Awards. It celebrates the most exemplary women and male mentors within construction and engineering across Europe. Our three winners are

  • Emma Jones –  Best Woman in Digital Innovation
  • Phillipa Spence – Best Woman in Environment & Sustainability
  • Simona Peet – Best Woman Structural Engineer

 

Emerging Professional of the Year Award: Highly commended

Tom Channell - Digital Development Lead, was Highly Commended in the Emerging Professional of the Year Award. 

The judges were impressed with his passion for digitally enabled tools and developing this within the industry. They felt his commitment to climate action by highlighting sustainable solutions through digital tools was evident. As well as his ideas around improving diversity and inclusion by embracing a more virtual future. 

We were also shortlisted for Best Pandemic Response. 

 

Partnership Initiative of the Year: Highly commended

The partnership delivering the Antarctic Infrastructure Modernisation Programme have been Highly Commended at the British Construction Industry (BCI) Awards.

The team includes UKRI/NERC, British Antarctic Survey (BAS), Technical Advisor Ramboll, with NORR Architects and Turner and Townsend and Construction Partner BAM Nuttall, with their design partner Sweco and Hugh Broughton architects. Read more in our finalist nomination news story

 

Commercial Property Project of the Year: finalist

11-21 Canal Reach, under construction, comprises two Grade A office buildings – 11 Canal Reach (235,000 sq ft) and 21 Canal Reach (170,000 sq ft). The project is currently achieving an embodied carbon target of below 800kgCO2e/m2 with continued ambitions to improve on this figure during construction. 

 

Best Biodiversity Enhancement finalist

Greenburn Surface Mine has been recognised by Brownfield Awards as a Best Biodiversity Enhancement finalist for the restoration of habitats and creation of ecological enhancements at the East Ayrshire site.

 

Engineer of the Year: Highly commended

Ramboll were Highly Commended in the 'Engineer of the Year' category at the Structural Timber Awards.

Our timber expertise was recognised following our timber design for Cyber Quarter, a highly sustainable and aesthetically striking building with CLT frame, timber finishes, and glulam structure. Read more in our finalist nomination news story.

 

Specialist Due Diligence Provider of The Year shortlisting

This is a recognition of Ramboll’s long-standing track record in technical leadership and innovation in evaluating both the traditional environment and health & safety (EHS) and ESG risks and opportunities in business transactions and delivering value for our clients. As we move towards low-carbon economy and supply chain engagement, Ramboll services cover increasingly broader ESG and sustainability scope of work, not only during the M&A process, but throughout the investment lifecycle.
