EDT - Engineering Development Trust

logo: Industrial CadetsGold Certificate of Accreditation
Ramboll has met the requirements of the Industrial Cadet Framework to Gold level by supporting the BP sponsored Engineering Education Scheme, mentoring female students from Wimbledon High School on a ‘real life’ structural engineering project. Given an open brief to design a centrepiece structure for a green space, the students schemed, designed and engineered a three-pinned cross-laminated timber arch. From this, they created a sustainability driven pavilion that considered above and beyond the structure and combined user experiences, human factors and future proofing.

Ramboll ranked 8th in the NCE100

NCE100 winners logo 2019We were one of only six organisations at the NCE100 to be honoured with four or MORE award shortlisting, a demonstration of the strength and breadth of our capabilities. READ THE FULL STORY HERE. The shortlistings included:

  • Innovation in Project Initiation - At a constrained site over a busy live tube station, Ramboll used in-house parametric optioneering tools to explore multiple design options to improve site potential and project viability, resulting in an additional 5,000m2 of viable development area, while identifying significant savings in construction costs and disruption.
  • Design Innovator - Our unique automated software solution for full detailed design and modelling of gantries maintains the standard technical assurance processes for Highway Structures, and fully independent checking. The information architecture acts as a single-source of truth, which provides technical surety. Each design stage is visible and automated to accelerate engineer-led optimisation.
  • Impact in Energy - We’re working with British Geological Survey creating an ‘observatory for the underground’. It will provide world-leading knowledge and support the UK’s commitment to a low-carbon energy system. Further, with Islington Council we have developed and implemented heating networks utilising alternative sources of waste energy from London Underground.
  • Diversity Leader of the Year - We have demonstrated leadership in diversity through our commitment to creating a truly inclusive environment through continuing far-reaching activities which have bolstered senior strength to reflect and up-skill in diversity, as well as significant employee outreach to garner feedback to strengthen and focus our EDI Action Plan.
