“"The keys to good design are knowledge and inspiration, but the key to realising that design is communication."”
Sean Smeltzer joined Ramboll in 2008 as an Associate within the Structures Group in the UK.
Sean's career spans over 25 years in both the public and private sector. Having spent several extended periods abroad, in Doha, Hong Kong and Delhi, he has gained a valuable understanding of the rigours of international and cross-cultural working.
With a strong background in reinforced concrete design, Sean has developed his management skills and delivered high profile and prestigious projects across an array of sectors, including: aviation, residential, commercial, education, sports stadia and underground railways.
Approachable and insightful, Sean's strong communication abilities allow him to work effectively in a multi-disciplinary environment. He is particularly adept at understanding the needs of others and working within tight constraints to provide high quality solutions.
Fitzroy place is the most significant new development in Fitzrovia in over 50 years. This mixed use scheme includes almost 300 homes in three in situ concrete framed buildings, as well as 210,000 sq. ft. of offices and 21,000 sq. ft. of restaurants and shops in two steel framed buildings, encompassing some of the most desirable residences and commercial premises in London.
Work began on Pulkovo Airport in March 2008 to deliver Grimshaw’s winning architectural concept, whilst keeping the existing Pulkovo Airport fully functioning. As the lead design consultant, Ramboll helped to create a world leading airport terminal conforming to international best practice, in parallel with restrictive Russian standards.
