“Quality and delivery is at the heart of what we do.”

Neil set up and now leads the Birmingham office, which offers the full range of engineering services, with expertise in education, healthcare, energy from waste and historic buildings. Neil's responsibilities include overseeing staff, raising the company's profile across central England, business development, financial performance and ensuring quality delivery of projects. In addition Neil is the Ramboll UK Healthcare Sector Leader.

As well as establishing the Birmingham office, Neil also set up the (former) Gifford office in Dubai, and has had spells working in Kosovo and Pakistan. Neil draws on this varied experience of different projects, design approaches and construction techniques to inform his current work.

Building and maintaining strong working relationships is important to Neil. With a degree in architectural engineering, it is perhaps not surprising that Neil loves working closely with high-calibre architects to help fulfil their aspirations. Equally he has spent a lot of time supervising projects on site and appreciates the need to be pragmatic when working with contractors. When mentoring his people, Neil emphasises that they should take a collaborative approach and aim to help everyone on the project achieve their goals.

Neil wants work to be fun, believing that makes the team more productive and he is also keen to be at the forefront of new ideas and developments. The Birmingham office is embracing the changes that Building Information Modelling brings and is increasingly focused on delivering more sustainable design solutions.

Neil is currently working on projects in the energy from waste, higher education, commercial, historic building and healthcare sectors.
