Martin has over 20 years’ experience in the design of building and civil engineering structures and leading multi-disciplinary design teams in the built environment.

 He joined the Ramboll team in September 2018 as Director for structural engineering and is part of the Leeds leadership team.  Martin brings with him a wealth of experience in all major sectors with a particular focus on commercial and residential.  He is a specialist in refurbishment and has worked on a number of historic structures of significance including Lister Mills in Bradford and Murray Mills in Manchester.  In addition, Martin was lead engineer on Doncaster Civic and Cultural Quarter and the £50m Arts and Humanities building for Manchester Metropolitan University.

Martin is a Chartered Engineer, Member of the Institution of Structural Engineers and a graduate of the University of Strathclyde and University College London. 

Recent projects

The Mersey Gateway - six lane toll bridge

Ramboll has played a significant role in the Mersey Gateway project, the central feature of the significant highway improvements between the M56 and Speke Road. It is a new six-lane cable-stayed tolled bridge across the Mersey Estuary between Runcorn and Widnes.

European Extremely Large Telescope

Located on top of Cerro Armazones in Chile, the Extremely Large Telescope (ELT) will be the largest optical/infrared telescope in the world and will take telescope engineering into new territory. With a main mirror 39m in diameter, this ultra-advanced telescope will be housed in an enormous rotating dome 85m in diameter. When complete it will be be used to search for life on planets around other stars in the Milky Way.
