Martin has over 25 years’ experience in the design and management of a wide range of mechanical and electrical projects in many diverse market sectors. His career has encompassed projects from low energy offices to hospitals; research facilities to specialist military installations and private residences to large apartment blocks. All of which have given Martin a well-rounded understanding of a huge range of systems and design approaches which allows him to apply the right system on the right project.
Working closely with clients, architects and other members of the design and construction teams Martin is responsible for ensuring quality solutions are delivered on time and on budget.
Over the last few years Martin has predominantly focussed on industrial, residential, offices and education projects. He has worked on a number of high profile developments for both public and private clients; some speculative and some directly for end users. He he understands the drivers for each and recognises that there is no one approach which is best for all.
In the education sector Martin has led many of the major projects from the Manchester office. From small extensions at private schools to £75m DfES funded multi-Academy projects, he has led schemes under a variety of funding mechanisms including the LSC Framework, the Academies Framework, BSF as well as independent appointments.
Martin has also been responsible for introducing BIM and Revit MEP into the M&E section of Ramboll, which he undertook as part of his role in the Best Practice team. This team promotes consistency, high standards and knowledge sharing across the whole of Ramboll.
Work began on Pulkovo Airport in March 2008 to deliver Grimshaw’s winning architectural concept, whilst keeping the existing Pulkovo Airport fully functioning. As the lead design consultant, Ramboll helped to create a world leading airport terminal conforming to international best practice, in parallel with restrictive Russian standards.
