Ramboll’s Climate Commitments in the UK
Climate action is at the heart of what we do as ‘the sustainable society consultant’. Here we share our three UK climate commitments and carbon reduction plan.
From meaningfully reducing emissions from our own operations, to increasing investment into solutions that drive climate resilient outcomes for our clients, through to helping our employees lead sustainable lifestyles.
Our Mission is to create sustainable societies where people and nature flourish. As a purpose-led organisation, sustainability is ingrained in our 75-year heritage and we have stayed true to our founding principles to make positive sustainable contributions.
Decarbonising Ramboll’s operation

Ramboll Group has had its emissions reduction targets approved by the Science Based Targets* initiative (SBTi) as consistent with levels required to meet the goals of the Paris Agreement.
Ramboll Group has also signed 'Business Ambition for 1.5˚C, a global campaign led by the SBTi in partnership with the UN Global Compact and the We Mean Business coalition, joining a number of leading companies worldwide that are committed to keeping global warming to 1.5°C and reaching net-zero emissions by 2050.
By signing Business Ambition for 1.5°C, Ramboll Group also joined the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCC) 'Race to Zero' global campaign, which encourages more companies, governments and financial and educational institutions to come together and act for a healthier planet with zero carbon emissions.
Our target, aligned with 1.5°C
From a 2019 baseline, Ramboll in the UK will reduce greenhouse gas emissions (GHG) from its operations (scopes 1 and 2) and business travel (scope 3) 46.2% by 2030, consistent with reductions required to keep warming to 1.5°C, the most ambitious goal of the Paris Agreement.
Ramboll is also setting a long-term target to reach net-zero emissions by no later than 2050, backed up by interim SBTs across the entire value chain based on the SBTi new Corporate Standard for Science-Based Net Zero released on October 28, 2021.Ramboll Group also commits that 80% of its suppliers by emissions covering purchased goods and services will have science-based targets by 2025.
In addition to its science-based targets, Ramboll is committing to source 100% renewable electricity by 2025, supporting its operational GHG reduction efforts.
